Bulls Preparing for Injured Johnson to Play

Two days after the Nets seemed to surrender on the court in a 90-82 Game 2 loss, the veteran guard declared himself a wounded soldier. Johnson’s status for Game 3 on Thursday night at the United Center is uncertain because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
“I’m a little sore, but I’ll be able to give them what I’ve got,” Johnson said after sitting out practice Wednesday. “We’ve fought so hard to get to this point. To have a little nagging injury like this, man, it’s tough. But that’s part of it.”
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau fully expects Johnson to play Thursday. Thibodeau has watched one of his top players, Joakim Noah, battle through the same injury. Noah’s status was questionable coming into the series, yet he played 25-plus minutes in Game 2.
“Plantar fasciitis sucks,” Noah said. “It feels like you have needles underneath your foot while you’re playing. …You need to jump, you need to run, you need to do a lot of things while you’re playing basketball, so you don’t want needles underneath your foot, right?
