The Hinsdale Village Board will be asked to prohibit parking on two residential streets south of Whole Foods Market.
Residents on Phillippa Street and Justina Street have complained about employees from the grocery store parking on their blocks for extended periods of time. Some neighbors also have reported employees hanging out by their cars and seeing one shirtless teenager sunning himself on the hood of his vehicle.
To address the problem, the Police Department prohibited parking on the east side of Phillippa and the west side of Justina between Bob-O-Link and Fuller Road on a trial basis this summer. Those are the first blocks south of Whole Foods, at 500 E. Ogden Ave.
That trial period has ended and, based on resident feedback, the department recommends the parking ban on one side of both blocks become permanent.
“Having that restriction on the east side has worked very nicely,” Steve Casey, who lives on the 800 block of Phillippa, told the Zoning and Public Safety Committee Tuesday.\
