A third-party candidate for a DuPage County Board seat won’t appear on the November ballot after the county’s electoral board ruled there were problems with his nominating papers.
Lombard resident Timothy Goodcase had hoped to run as a Constitution Party candidate in District 2, which covers all or portions of Addison, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Lisle, Lombard, Naperville, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park, Westmont and Woodridge.
But during a Thursday afternoon hearing in Wheaton, the three-member electoral panel deemed that Goodcase’s petition only had 1,267 valid signatures. He needed a minimum of 2,692 valid signatures to qualify for a spot on the Nov. 8 ballot. The panel also concluded that Goodcase didn’t properly file a statement of economic interest.
