The 2010 Glenbard West High School graduate was born with kidney disease and received his first kidney transplant from his dad, Gary, when he was 22 months old. To raise money for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, the 25-year-old and his family for a second year will participate in the Walk for Kidneys on June 25 in Lincoln Park in Chicago.
The aim of the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois is to improve the health and well-being of people at risk for or affected by kidney disease through prevention, education and empowerment. During last year’s Walk for Kidneys, the Kamphuis family raised just less than $18,300.
