Antonio Brown’s ugly divorce from the Steelers was the biggest storyline of the NFL offseason, and Mr. Big Chest has decided to give fans a behind-the-scenes look into the soap opera by releasing audio of a phone call he had with agent Drew Rosenhaus to discuss which teams were in play to land the All-Pro.
The most surprising revelation from the recording is that, according to Rosenhaus, the Patriots were more than just a little interested in AB, and were firmly in the mix to land him. For his part, Brown was downright giddy at the prospect of teaming up with Tom Brady and Robert Kraft. Oh, what could have been.
Other teams mentioned in the convo are Buffalo, Philly, and Tennessee. Rosenhaus described the Raiders’ interest as fading during the call, but they ultimately pulled off the deal and the rest is history.
It’s rare to get access to the behind-the-scenes mechanics of one of the biggest deals of the year. This is pretty cool if you just like the business of the NFL.
