Is Brady’s lack of Belichick causing problems for the Bucaneers? Clay Travis goes over how a lack of discipline could have caused the loss Thursday Night.
Clay Travis is reacting to what was a very competitive, yet sloppy game on Thursday Night Football. The Tampa Bay Bucs travelled to Chicago and lost to the Bears by one point on Thursday Night, and a big reason for their loss was self-inflicted wounds with penalties and mental errors throughout the game.
The Bucs couldn’t seem to stop from shooting themselves in the foot, as they racked up over 100 penalty yards. This is the second time this season that they have eclipsed the 100 yard mark in penalties, and it’s no surprise that both instances have been in their two losses against the Saints in week 1, and again last night in Chicago.
Maybe the biggest moment in the game came at the very end, where Tom Brady seemingly did not realize that it had just been 4th down and the game was essentially over. Clay believes that this sort of mental lapse, along with the team’s overall lack of discipline, would never happen in New England.
Bill Belichick always has his team mentally prepared, and mental mistakes are a true rarity with the Patriots. It seems as if Tom Brady may have taken that luxury for granted. His new team in Tampa lacks discipline, and that was displayed on multiple occasions in Chicago. Bruce Arians is no Bill Belichick when it comes to that.
