During the U.S.’s 2-1 takedown of England in the Women’s World Cup Quarterfinal, Alex Morgan celebrated her go ahead goal by pretending to take a sip of tea . Some tea drinking Brits aren’t happy about the reference to their obsession with the second best of the popular hot drinks, including soccer analyst and Juventus player Lianne Sanderson.
Sanderson thought Morgan’s celly hit a little too close to home by taking a whack at the national drink that we once tossed like trash into Boston Harbor. There’s nothing better than getting a lecture on proper decorum from the country that brought you hooliganism. Honestly, the pearl clutching makes it that much sweeter.
U.S.A. onto the final.
@liannesanderson calls Alex Morgan’s tea sipping celebration “distasteful.”
