Kevin Durant made headlines this week when he said that many players don’t want to play with LeBron in L.A. because of the environment surrounding LeBron and the Lakers is ‘toxic’ due to the overwhelming media attention surrounding James.
Today in The Herd, FS1 NBA Analyst Chris Broussard discussed KD’s comments and told Colin he thinks the motivation behind the dig was Durant’s jealousy of LeBron and his perception that LeBron gets a pass from the press while he gets routinely crushed.
Broussard thinks Durant is off-base because much of the media criticism he receives is self-inflicted – like his burner account story or general thin-skinned reaction to harmless critiques that fan the flames of stories. Broussard also believes KD won’t be joining LeBron in L.A. because he views him as a competitive rival and wants to surpass him by winning more titles, something he can’t accomplish if the two join forces.
