In a flurry of NFL trade deadline moves yesterday, many playoff contenders added key pieces for the stretch run, but despite fighting for their playoff lives, the Packers traded away receiver Ty Montgomery and starting safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.
Montgomery was in Aaron Rodgers’ doghouse after blowing Sunday’s game against the Rams after fumbling a 4th quarter kickoff return, but was given away for a seventh rounder. Colin agrees Montgomery screwed up, but the Packers shipping him out for next to nothing to satisfy Rodgers feels like a lopsided relationship, much like the Cavs exhausting themselves by trying to placate LeBron.
Rodgers is a sure-fire Hall of Famer, and one of the most talented players to ever play quarterback in the NFL, but the marriage between he and the Packers has reached the point where it’s unhealthy and getting uglier by the minute. Just like a schlub who lands a girlfriend that’s way out of his league and will do anything to keep her, Green Bay is more concerned about keeping Rodgers happy than doing what’s best for the organization.
