Things went sideways again for Russell Westbrook in Utah during the second quarter of Oklahoma City’s 98-89 win over the Jazz when he got into a shouting match with a heckling fan at the end of the Thunder Bench.
A courtside video of the incident shows Westbrook yelling at the fan that he will “f— up” the fan and his wife. He claims the threat was in reaction the fan telling him to, “Get on [his] knees like [he’s] used to.” Oklahoma City’s Patrick Patterson was on the bench and confirmed the account.
Westbrook and several Thunder teammates allege that the fan crossed the line when he told Westbrook to get on [his] knees, like he’s used to,” which prompted the threats. The Jazz fan involved in the back-and-forth also gave his account of the incident to the media following the game, and denied saying anything personal to set off Westbrook.
Obviously someone here is lying. Regardless of who’s right or wrong, it’s another bad look for Westbrook in Utah, even with OKC getting the win.
