Minor league umpires are used to getting booed for making bad calls, but fans of the Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators found a new reason to give an ump the business for his treatment of the team’s beloved bat dog.
The unusual booing occurred after the home plate umpire tossed a bat to the on-deck circle instead of letting Finn the Bat Dog perform his sacred duty of fetching the bat and bringing it to the dugout. The crowd shaming was swift and fierce, in the form of a sound booing.
Umps just can’t win.
Might be the loudest boo in the history of umpire’s. I still love you guys though!! @MiLB @SportsCenter @MLB @AviatorsLV @LVBallpark @notthefakeSVP #umpire pic.twitter.com/ACsm88seKi
