The Jets seemed to have their Sunday game in the bag. Up until they didn’t.
Clay Travis is joined by long-time Chargers star Shawne Merriman to break down what we all saw on Sunday There were a ton of games that went down to the wire, and a bunch of games with results that were not expected.
One game that went down to the final seconds, and nearly produced a major upset, was the Raiders going on the road against the winless Jets. The Jets seemingly had this game won, until they didn’t. The Raiders had the ball with only seconds left around the 50 yard line, and Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams dialed up an all out blitz which led to Derek Carr finding a wide open receiver in Henry Ruggs for the game winning score.
Shawne Merriman, a former defensive star in the NFL, could not believe his eyes when watching that game. Merriman says that for the first time ever, he believes that there is an NFL team that is legitimately tanking. There is no other reasonable explanation. To make that defensive call in that situation is unexplainable. The silver lining for the Jets is they are still firmly in the driver’s seat to earn the number one overall pick.
