The Patriots are impossibly headed to their eighth consecutive AFC Championship Game after blowing out the Chargers over the weekend, but despite Belichick and Brady wiping the floor with Philip Rivers, Colin still thinks year is the best chance NFL teams are going to get to take down New England for the foreseeable future.
The Pats looked dominant this weekend, but they still do have obvious weaknesses, and the poorest collection of offensive weapons they’ve had since they won their first title in 2001. Even though Gronk is a shell of himself, Julian Edelman is aging, and they had uncharacteristic losses to bottom feeders, Belichick is likely to load up on reinforcements this offseason with 12 draft picks and additional cap space from Gronk’s likely retirement or release.
The fact New England is this good with this roster is ludicrous. It’s not going to get any easier after their roster holes get filled. This is as vulnerable as they’re gonna get until Brady decides to hang it up.
