A couple of months ago, Browns undrafted rookie wide receiver Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi wasn’t on any NFL teams’ radar, so he lied his way into an open tryout by telling screeners he knew Browns VP of Football Operations Alonzo Highsmith. He didn’t ACTUALLY know Highsmith, but impressed him enough after running a 4.38 40 to get an invite to an open tryout.
Sheehy-Giuseppe made the team at the tryout, despite having to sleep outside of a 24-Hour Fitness gym, and last night wrote the next chapter in this ridiculous fairytale by returning a punt 86-yards for a TD in the 4th quarter of the Browns preseason game against the Redskins.
Giuseppe was dog piled in the end zone by teammates after the score, and if he makes the regular season roster you can bank on someone turning this into a movie.
These games don’t matter, but moments in them do. Watch the 4.3 version of Rudy house one.
This man couldn’t afford a hotel, so he was sleeping outside. Then he talked his way into an NFL workout and earned a contract.
