The Niners season looks like it’s headed into the tank after Jimmy Garoppolo went down with a non-contact knee injury, believed to be a torn ACL, against the Chiefs yesterday on a scramble near the sidelines.
Many are blaming Jimmy G for the injury because he decided to fight for a couple meaningless yards instead of stepping out of bounds. Count Chiefs pass rusher Justin Houston among them.
In a postgame interview following K.C.’s 38-27 win, Houston didn’t mince words in saying Garoppolo’s injury was his own fault because he should have just stepped out of bounds. Houston added he was sorry Garoppolo was injured.
“That was his fault. I pray he’s not hurt, nothing serious, but as a quarterback you should step out of bounds. It was only an inch. That inch wouldn’t have made a difference. You got the yardage you need, you step out of bounds. You got to be smart.”
