The Dora High School basketball team won a tight 64-62 over Licking High School in a recent holiday tournament, but is under investigation by the Missouri High School Athletic Commission for pulling an illegal switch switch at the free throw line by swapping one triplet for another – better free throw shooting – triplet that plays on the team.
Triplets Auston, Bryson and Mason Luna play for Dora, and a video shows Auston (#34) drawing a foul that was supposed to send him to the line. After a brief team huddle broke, Auston can be seen walking away, and his triplet brother Bryson (#20) taking his place and hitting his brother’s shots.
It might be hard for Dora’s coach to deny he wasn’t aware of the scheme because he’s their dad, Rick Luna. The opposing team didn’t catch the misdirection initially, but picked it up while reviewing the game tape. Other teams have now come forward and alleging the triplets pulled the same stunt in other games throughout the season.
