The Browns axed Head Coach Hue Jackson and OC Todd Haley following a Week 8 loss to Pittsburgh because the rift between the two had become to great to fix. Leaks had been coming out of Cleveland for weeks that Haley and Jackson were locked in an increasingly nasty power struggle within the facility regarding control of the offense, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who watched Hard Knocks.
During a scene from a coaches meeting in Episode 1, Jackson and Haley got into an uncomfortable exchange about players sitting out during training camp. Haley argued that players with minor injuries sitting out sends a bad message. Jackson big-timed Haley with the head coach card, saying it’s different in the coordinator’s seat than it is as the head coach’s.
The Browns are a disaster, but it didn’t take a genius to see the Haley/Jackson trainwreck coming.
