Washington State Head Coach Mike Leach has his team ranked 8th in the latest BCS rankings as his team heads into Boulder to take on Colorado, but during a press conference yesterday he was more into talking about his love of Colorado’s live buffalo mascot than x’s and o’s.
In true Leach fashion, he went off an a trademark tangent marveling at Ralphie the buffalo and making the case for more schools to have real animals as mascots. Leach also recounted a time during his college days at BYU when the Air Force Falcon mascot decided to abandon his duties and just up and flew out of the stadium.
The mini-rant may not be a huge hit with PETA, but it’s hard to argue with coach.
Leach also discussed Wazzu looking into getting a live cougar mascot, but based on this video of the terrifying demonic shrieks that mountain lions make, it’s probably a good idea to pass on wrangling one for pep duty.
