The Dolphin’s game-winning Miami Miracle hook-and-lateral play to beat the Patriot’s was one of the best game winning plays since Cal/Stanford, but it likely wouldn’t have happened if Bill Belichick didn’t roll Rob Gronkowski on the Hail Mary D as the last line of defense.
By now, everyone has seen the TV clip of the incredible play, but a new endzone view of the entire play will only serve to enrage already reeling Pats fans. The Instagram video posted by a Dolphins fan shows Gronk pacing back and forth, and getting caught flat footed and completely out of position as Kenyan Drake blows past him for the dagger score. You can see the whole thing unfolding like a slow motion nightmare.
The Miracle hurts if your’re a Patriots fan, but this will somehow make it hurt a little more. Literally any DB would have probably been able to get the angle and at least push Drake out before crossing the goal line.
