As you probably know, Jon Gruden is pretty much burning everything to the ground in Oakland in what has become a total rebuild during his first year back in the NFL. Among the casualties of Chucky’s return have been once promising franchise building blocks Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper.
Even though NFL coach Jon Gruden was done with Cooper, it turns out NFL Draft Analyst Jon Gruden freaking loved him coming out of Alabama and lobbied hard for the Raiders to take him when with the 4th pick in the 2015 draft. Gruden thought Cooper would be just what the doctor ordered for “promising” young quarterback Derek Carr to jumpstart the franchise. Well, about that….
It all looked so promising until Gruden showed up and told GM Reggie McKenzie, “Hold my beer.” This is part weird, part cringy, and part funny, well not if you’re a fan of the Silver and Black.
Then ESPN draft analyst Jon Gruden wanted Amari Cooper to team up with #Raiders QB Derek Carr. pic.twitter.com/7Tr7d9XBgP
